Spiritual Nourishment

prayer

As the main roots of formation, the seminary offers a conducive environment for spiritual nourishment. There are liturgical activities that are conducted daily which help the seminarians in their quest for spiritual growth. Each seminarian is assigned to a spiritual director who offers spiritual guidance and counsel. There are small Christian communities within the community that helps students share the word of God, life experience and praying together.

june12The mission of Spiritan Missionary Seminary (SMS) is to provide the first cycle of academic training for missionary, priestly and religious formation for candidates from Africa.
Most of the candidates, who graduate from SMS each year, continue with their priestly/religious formation in order to accomplish their dream of being labourers in the vineyard of the Lord – the Church.
Among the Spiritan candidates who graduated from SMS in May 2011, six of them proceeded to the novitiate – the Spiritan novitiate in Magamba-Lushoto/Tanzania. On the 21st of June 2012, these six young men made their religious profession in the presence of their superiors, friends and neighbours of the Spiritan novitiate. We congratulate them for their courage to say YES to the Lord of the harvest.
